(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home/wd2_cpws/craftypaws.us/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114I had a couple of extra colored images from my last Christmas ornament project using the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Stamp Set by Inkadinkado so I decided to do a quick pop up card for a last minute card.

I fussy cut the characters out with my favorite Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors and then inked the edges with a Momento Tuxedo Black Marker (to hide the white paper edges). Unfortunately, I next made the mistake of gluing these characters onto the pop up hillsides. I say unfortunately because I would have done better to do the next step adding texture first, but live and learn (you can learn from my mistakes – LOL).

Then for the front and back covers of the card base and for the inside sentiment, I used a few remaining sheets from an old Recollections “Winter Frost” 6×6 paper stack. These pretty papers were great to add a little extra stability to the card as well (since the Snow Tex had warped the papers and added some weight to the inner workings of the card).

The following is a video sharing the card as well as the process of how to use the hillsides pop up card die:

I used the following Copic colors to color up all the characters:

Rudolph: Nose: R05, R24 and R27; Lighter areas: E50 and E51; Brown hide and hooves: E35, E23 and E87. I also coated Rudolph’s nose with some Ranger Glossy Accents for some shine.

Yukon Cornelius: Skin: E50 and E51; Hat: R05, R24 and R27; Wood handles and satchel: E23 and E37; Beard and mustache: E99 and E07; Blue coveralls: B93, B95 and B97; Hammer head: C3

I had messed up my coloring of his ear muffs (I was distracted and colored them like his hair) so I ended up adding a bit of sparkly texture with Diamond Range Flower Soft in Gold. This bit of mistake-covering extra texture turned out to be a perfect little finishing touch!

I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Pop Ups Die for the 3D card structure, but added a little extra “umph” with some Deco Art Snow Tex that I revitalized (it had hardened) White Gesso! The amount of gesso to use really depends on how dry the Snow Tex is, but for my mixture (which I wanted pretty thin to add just a thin layer on the foreground and hillsides) it was about a 1:1 ratio.
