I was so excited to finally pick up the Winnie & Walter Happy Dance stamp set! It has been on my wish list since it first came out and I saw how adorable these dancing critters were. I mean, look at the way the shoulders are up on that little boogie woogying bear! It’s just too cute!!!

So I decided to do a fun card with lots of visual movement and energy by using the smooshing technique on Strathmore Bristol Paper and Distress Ink in Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed and Broken China. I dabbed the ink pads onto a non-porous mat and sprayed it down with water. Then I smooshed in a piece of plastic and transferred the diluted ink to the paper. I dried the card front with my heat tool in between about 3 applications of ink and I really liked the splotchy look.

For the dancing critters, I used the following Copic colors, fussy cut them out with my Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors and inked the edges with a Momento Tuxedo Black Marker for a clean finished look: Then for the sentiment, I used a stamp from the same stamp set that reads: “wishing you the happiest of birthdays” but wiped away the “of birthdays” before stamping it out. To complete the sentiment I die cut “2018” from the card front as well as five times from some scrap card stock. I stacked and glued with Art Glitter Glue all the layers together and inlaid each number back into place on the card front to give a subtle but noticeable raised dimension.

To make the critters pop from the card front, I popped them up on double sided foam adhesive to match the raised dimension of of the die cut 2018. I matted the card front with some teal/blue card stock and mounted the whole assembly onto a bright green card base to coordinate with the splotchy background colors. As a finishing touch, I also added varying sizes and layered sequins for some sparkle. Now these critters look like they are dancing the night away at a new year’s eve party!

The following is a Copic coloring and card designing process video:
