My friend was recently heart broken when his now ex-girlfriend broke up with him to go back to her ex-boyfriend. Oh the drama! He has been feeling so blue that I wanted to try to cheer him up and let him know he’s in my thoughts, and I think he’s PAWsome. 🙂

My friend is a lover of dogs and basketball. He is also a percussionist (drummer) and is working on a passion project that hopefully will become the next big start-up business. To remind him of all these things that are important to him, I decided to make him a personalized card. I recently got the Mama Elephant “Little Dog Agenda”, and I was happily surprised to see all of these things were represented in this set.

I Copic colored up four of the dogs and fussy cut them out with a small white border with my favorite Fiskars Spring Loaded Scissors: To frame all the pups, I used the Diemond Dies “Film Strip Die”. I love how this die works so well with small stamps like this and makes them all look so special. I wanted this to be a masculine card with mostly blues, but I also wanted it to have a little sparkle, so I die cut the film strip from blue glittered card stock. Remember my readers can get 10% off and FREE worldwide shipping at Diemond Dies on all orders of $35 or more.

For the card front, I decided to use the hearts strip from the new-to-me Neat & Tangled border die set called, “Tiny Cuts Die”. I also used the die on some blue glitter card stock and inset each of the tiny glittered blue hearts into the card front. To get the chance to add a sweet paw patterned paper from the Doodlebug Designs Puppy Love 6 x 6 Collection, I decided to die cut the card front with the stitched straight edge die from the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders 2 Die Set just below the row of inset hearts. Where the white card front and the Doodlebug paper meet, I also placed a thin strip of the blue glitter card stock to create a finished border.

For the sentiment, I used the “You’re Pawsitively Awesome” stamp from the My Favorite Things “You Have My Heart” stamp set (retired). After prepping a bit of black card stock with an EK Tools Powder Tool, I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder. I hand cut it into a banner shape and popped it up on double sided foam dots just above the inlaid hearts.

The following is a quick video share of this card:
