Ok, I admitted that I got no Christmas cards out to friends this year (all I had time for were cards for a few sick children and a handful of cards for my hubby’s relatives). But one of my closest friends in NYC really needs some holiday cheer so I made this belated Christmas card for her.

This super fashionable girl from The Greeting Farm “Together Anywhere” stamp set is perfect for my fashionista friend so I paper pieced her coat to resemble one that my friend has and colored her up with the following Copic colors: For the background, I used a Tsukineko VersaMarker Pen to draw in irregular snowflake dots and heat embossed clear show flakes onto the white card stock. Then I blended in Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass so that the embossed snowflakes would create a resist. I loved the soft look of the snow drifting down. Then I used the scalloped stitched rectangle die from the WPlus9 Sunshine Layers die set to cut out the card front.

For the snowy ground, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside die to create a stencil over which I used a palette knife to coat on DecoArt Snow-Tex. Oooh and an unexpected bonus was that the stitching from the make-shift die cut stencil came through with the Snow-Tex so it matched the stitching around the scalloped rectangle card base! For a little more snowy texture, I also used the Deco Art Snow Writer to add more dimensional falling snow. And because I LOVE sparkle in snowy scenes, I topped all the Snow-Tex and Snow Writer with iridescent glitter glue–all the sparkle and shine with none of the mess! Doesn’t she look like she could be humming “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” as she walks along freshly fallen snow?

For the inside sentiment, I formed the “warm winter wishes” stamp from the Lawn Fawn Baaah Humbug stamp set into a half circle shape on a stamping block and stamped it using Momento Luxe Tuxedo Black Ink. This ink stays wet a bit longer and is perfect to use for heat embossing, which I did with clear embossing powder. Then to create some continuity with the patterned paper that I used to paper piece the girl’s coat, I added some hand cut fishtail banners at the lower left and upper right. I glued them in skewed pairs to add a bit of whimsy. 🙂 Because they looked a little bare, I decided to top them with some black card stock snowflakes that I punched out with the medium sized corner punch from the Martha Stewart Aspen Snowflake Punch Around The Page Combo Setand coated with clear Wink of Stella for some more sparkle.

The following is a video share of this card:

Hair: E21, 25 and 29

Skin: E50, 51, 53 and R20

Boots: N1, 4, 5, 7, and 9

Scarf: R22, 24, 27 and 29

I also shaded in the paper pieced coat with N1 and drew in polka dots onto the tops of her boots to match the coat with a 0.1 pt Copic Multiliner pen.
