I have really fallen for bendi cards because allow for more elaborate paper crafting story telling–with their 3 layers, you can create a multi-scene card. To create the card structure, I used white card stock with the following dimensions and to cut the hills, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Die Set:

""Background base: 5″h x 6″w

Background snowy hill: 3 1/4″h x 6″w

Middle snowy hill: 2 3/4h x 5 3/4″w, scored on left at 1/4″ to glue to back of the background base, and with a tab cut at 5 1/2″

An extra layer of hills: 1 3/4″h x 5 1/4″ was added to the front of the middle snowy hill for more interest (but this is totally not necessary)

Foreground snowy hill: 2″h x 4 3/4″w, with a tab cut at 1/4″ and scored at 4 1/2″ to glue to back of the background base.

The poodle and rottweiler (from Lia Griffith for Hero Arts’ “Party Time” stamp set) in the background are being nice, partying and building a snow man together. While the front spotted pup (from Paper Sweeties’ “Sweeties Pets” stamp set) is being naughty, sitting among the remnants of a snowman, self-satisfied after playing Pupzilla. LOL

I colored up these pups simply with the following Copic colors, fussy cut them all out, inked the edges of the paper with a Momento Dual Tip Black Marker (this is the perfect marker to hide the white edges because it does not bleed into the paper), and doodled and paper pieced winter hats on all of them:

""Poodle: R30 with R83 for tongue

Rottweiler: E33 and C5

Spotted Pup: E33 and N5 for paw pads and R30 for blush

To add a little extra fun, I added tiny white pom poms to the hats on the pups in the background, Icicle Stickles to the white areas of the hat on the pup in the foreground, and a sparkly snowflake button (with the shank cut off) as a decoration for the snowman’s top hat.

The snowman and the remnant snowman parts are all from the Diemond Dies Build a Snowman Die Set. I added a bit of color by cutting out the scarf and hat bands from scrap pink and mint striped paper from my scrap box. In fact, I cut out the scarf 3 times and fussy cut the different parts (horizontal around neck and two ends) and assembled them back together so that the scarf would look more realistic and show the stripes going in different directions. I did a bit of shading with a Copic W0. To repeat and reinforce the stronger mint/teal color that I planned for the background sky, I used a Copic BG32 to add dots on the scarf, hat band, and the puppy hats.

The background base was stamped with the “Naughty or Nice” sentiment from the Julie Nutting for Prima “Merry Nice” stamp set with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder (I find that this fine detail embossing powder is really a must for very detailed fonts like this). With the sentiment set as a resist, I blended on a pale pink Distress Ink at the horizon with Spun Sugar and gradually darkened to a teal sky with Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers. To make the sky look like snow was falling, I splattered on some Perfect Pearls water to remove some of the ink for a splotchy and sparkly effect and then watered down some Copic Opaque White to add some fine white splatters for the look of snowflakes.
